You don't just wander into Kulemak's arena in PoE 2. You earn it, usually after a long night of "one more map" thinking. The key is Kulemak's Invitation, and it's basically your pass into the Black Cathedral and all that Abyss-flavoured loot. If you're also planning your runs around upgrades, having some path of exile 2 currency set aside for rolling maps and tweaking your Atlas helps more than people like to admit.

Where the Invitation Actually Drops

Here's the part a lot of players miss: the Invitation isn't a random world drop and it's not something you "get lucky" with in regular mapping. You need to kill one of two Abyssal bosses, Tasgul or Vandroth, and they only show up in Abyssal Depths. Those depths then branch into two specific zones: the Lightless Void or the Dark Domain. Also, don't bother trying to force it too early. These depth zones won't even start appearing until you're level 79, so if you're 76 and feeling cursed, it's not bad luck—it's just impossible.

Making Abyss Farming Feel Less Miserable

If you rely on raw RNG, you'll burn out fast. The better play is to lean hard into your Atlas setup. Grab every Abyss-related passive you can reasonably afford so you see more cracks, more chains, and more chances for a Depths entrance. On top of that, use an Abyss Precursor Tablet before you open maps when you're in farming mode. It's not subtle; it noticeably bumps how often the Depths pop. When you finally hit Tasgul or Vandroth, don't stroll in like it's a normal rare mob. They punish greedy positioning, they carpet areas with denial effects, and they'll clip you if your defenses are held together with hope. The good news is the drop itself is clean: once you win, Kulemak's Invitation is guaranteed.

Using It the Right Way (Map Device Won't Help)

After you've got the Invitation, the map device is a dead end. It won't take it. Instead, head back to Act 2 and visit the Well of Souls. There's a spot near the cliff edge that looks like scenery until you're holding the Invitation—then it becomes interactable and transports you straight to the Black Cathedral. It's easy to miss if you're speed-clicking, so slow down for a second and check the edge carefully before you assume you're bugged.

Pushing Your Luck in the Black Cathedral

The encounter's the fun kind of stressful. You fight the Vessel of Kulemak first, and beating it gives you the Grip of Kulemak unique ring. Then the game offers you a choice: take the finger and walk out safe, or mess with the Abyss lords to respawn the Vessel for another round. Each repeat makes the ring "Desecrated" and stronger, but the boss ramps up too, and the arena feels less forgiving every time. If you die mid-greed, you lose the whole haul, so it's not a casual gamble.
